'N' level experience :)

N Level

Before N-level

I took my 'N' levels last year when I was 16. I was in the Normal Academic stream and I thought that 'N' levels was probably the greatest hurdle in my life back then. Here, I will be sharing some experiences and tips on my journey towards 'N' levels and I hope that I'll be able to help some of you :).

My grades in school were definitely not the best. I often struggled with school work and Math and Science were my weakest subjects. I never fail to fail them as I really hated these two subjects. Hence, I do not really try hard enough to study them which led me to failing them during examinations and tests.

Studying was often something that I find really tiring. I found it a more of a chore rather than something I want to do well for in order to go to a polytechnic. In the first half of the year, up till September, It seemed to me like 'N' Level examinations were really far away but little did I know, I had less than 1 month to prepare for it.  In the period of that 1 month, I finally started studying 2 weeks before 'N' level. It was really in a rush and given that my foundation for mathematics and science were really weak, I honestly did not know if I will be able to pass or not. In order to make it to the next level of my education, I must use my EMB3 score, which means the total score added up by english, mathematics, and 3 other subjects to proceed on my education. Math was a compulsory subject and I was really worried for myself. I kept blaming myself for not studying for 'N' levels earlier and spending most of my time playing. However, time could not rewind.

During & After N-level

When it was the 'N' level examinations period, I spammed milk tea (caffeine), continuously not sleep for days and only took naps just to study for my next paper after my examinations on that particular day ends. On certain days, I'll also sleep at midnight and wakeup at 3am just to study for my next paper. Honestly speaking, I do not regret doing it but I highly encourage everyone not to.

During some papers, I'll actually fall asleep and wakeup realising that I have no more time. But thankfully, I managed to still complete my papers. 'N' levels was honestly a really stressful period of time for me. I thought that nothing would be harder than 'N' levels but I guess I was wrong. Long story cut short, Last year, during November or nearing end of year, when I received my results, I cried on the spot as my results were really unexpected. I did better than what everyone expected and the point is, 'N' levels are not as hard as what some of you guys think :'). It might be a struggle for some of us but I believe that 'N' levels is something concurable hehe :) I am currently in Secondary 5 and honestly struggling with my studies. 'O' levels are way different from 'N' levels man ><. But whatever, I'll just go with the flow? :3

Some tips that I have will be:
-Start studying early. (No harm:P)
-Study in a way that will benefit YOU (E.g: If you are a visual learner, try drawing mind-maps or if you can't focus at home, go to the library.)
-DO NOT BE COMPLACENT!!
-DO NOT NOT SLEEP for days just to study
-Be sure to consult your teachers if you have any doubts
-Do not OVERSTRESS yourself!
-UNDERSTAND, NOT MEMORIZE! :))))))
-Think of 'N' levels as a challenge for you to show how well you can do in terms of academic and DO NOT view it as a BURDEN XD.

Hehe really hope what I shared helped you guys :) ALLTHEBEST for midyears!!
